Dave & Tami Benson, Lead Pastors
Dave & Tami came to Newberg in January 2004. Dave is an ‘89 George Fox University graduate and held a position here as Youth Pastor in the 1990’s. After being in Idaho for 13 years God orchestrated the events to bring them back to Newberg to lead FLC.
Their passion? As lead pastors, Dave and Tami are passionate about people, and seeing them grow up in their faith. Dave loves communicating in a clear, authentic way. He enjoys sports and has been known to get a little crazy over a good game. (Read more about Tami below, under Children's Ministries.)
Family info: Dave & Tami met and were married while attending Northwest University. They have three daughters; Tiffany-22, Heather-20 and Amber-18. Heather has given them one grandson Zane-1. He is a joy in our lives and in our home and when he says “Papa!” …it’s over.
Life Bible verse: "I know what I’m doing. I have it all planned out—plans to take care of you, not abandon you, plans to give you the future you hope for." Jeremiah 29:11 The Message
Favorite Dessert foods: Pecan Pie, and then anything chocolate...

Darel & Rachel Handley, Student Ministries
When did you become a part of FLC?
Rachel and I joined the staff in 2007 and we’re loving every minute of it!
What are you passionate about?
We are both passionate about Jesus. I know it's pretty typical and expected to say that on a church website but we really can't imagine our lives without Jesus. We are passionate about spending time together, with the family, with friends, with students, and with anybody else who is willing to hang with us. We both strive to live God honoring lives and to tell others of God's great love and plan for us.
Family info: Rachel and I have been married since 2002 and enjoy it being just the two of us for now.
Life Bible Verse:
D- Being confident of this, that He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus. Phil. 1:6
R- For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do. Eph. 2:10
Favorite Dessert food:
D- Cheesecake
R- Brownies

Tami Benson, Children’s Ministries
When did you become a part of FLC?
Our family came to Family Life church on a snowy day in January 2004. We had been here before as Youth Pastors, and a LONG time ago, I attended school here, (my Sophomore year) so this place is special to me. I love it here!
What are you passionate about?
I am passionate about too many things. I am working on “realizing my limits.” It’s hard when you feel that way about many things. What I am the most passionate about is learning, growing, developing, teaching, and stretching. I want kids and adults to REALLY know who God is. I want to be a part of people finding God for the first time, or coming back to Him. I love it when people take new steps!
Family info:
Husband= Dave, Kids= Tiffany-21, Heather-20, Amber-18. Grandson=Zane, 16 mo., Dog=Honey-13
Life Bible verse: “Do not be afraid; keep on speaking, do not be silent. For I am with you.”
Acts 18:17a
Favorite Dessert food:
Hmmm…… I will go with…. Chocolate anything!
